WHAT IT MEANS TO BE CURIOUSLY CREATIVE
Do you approach your creative pursuits with a sense of curiosity or fear?
Many times people feel intimidated when trying to do something creative. This is normal.
When you want to be creative in the arts, the emotional blocks can suddenly appear and stop your desire. One of the more common blocks is perfectionism.
Perfectionism holds you back. It holds you back because many. times you can’t begin.
You may say “what if I fail” or “make a mistake”. Or what “if people think what I’m doing is foolish, no good, or worse, stupid”?
Allowing a sense of curiosity, instead of fear when you are creating your amazing piece, is the antidote to feeling discouraged with your artistic interests.
You can ask questions to ignite a sense of awareness and wonder.
When you simply wander in your wonder, without an urgent goal of getting it “just right”, you can reach a place of intrigue, far-fetched imagination, and happy activity.
In your creative process, as you let go, have fun, and stay human the magic unfolds.
Look at the sky, at the people you pass by on the street, the weather, cars, houses, birds, cats, dogs, bushes, the sidewalk, the path, etc..Notice all these things.
You may try saying to yourself; “what an interesting tree, flower, dog, or rock”.
And then ask any small or big questions of the WHY, HOW, WHEN or WHAT of the thing that caught your attention.
Pay attention, be curious, and then see what unfolds.
